Agent Chat
What sets Luma apart from other creative tools is its agent-first approach, yet the chat interface made it feel like any other chatbot. The visual design was cluttered, responses arrived in jerky chunks, and layouts were full of inconsistencies. For a product built for creatives, it lacked craft.
Here is the original design and my refined version. I started with the visual treatment, putting emphasis on generated artifacts rather than lengthy agent explanations, while introducing new functionality like smooth token streaming, image previews, and inline edits.
Hello

Hello — what are we making today?

Generate me 4 orange gradients

Orange Gradient Set

4 images, 4 images, 5504×3072 px, 16:9, PNG, 4K tier; Four distinct orange gradients

  1. Parsed request: 4 images, subject “orange gradients”
  2. Picked four palettes and angles for variety
  3. Rendered at 4K tier

Four orange gradients — golden amber, coastal dusk, ember, and tidewater. All four are rendered at 4K; say the word if you want more variations.

Can you generate a blue squiggle down the middle?

Blue Squiggle Edit

1 image, 5504×4128 px, 4:3, PNG, 4K tier; Tidewater gradient with a blue squiggle

  1. Parsed request: edit image 4, “blue squiggle down the middle”
  2. Painted a blue squiggle through the center
  3. Rendered at 4K tier

Added a blue squiggle down the middle of the last gradient. Rendered at 4K.

Agent Onboarding
When I first joined Luma, the product had no onboarding experience. New users were dropped into an empty canvas with no direction of where to begin. Few users ever got activated, and most never experienced what made the product special.
To shorten the path to that “aha” moment, I made onboarding a conversation with the agent. Using each user's answers, the agent generates a personalized set of assets, delivering real value in minutes, not hours.

What do you want to create today?

Agent Exploration
As agents take on more of our work, they need a presence of their own. Most AI products lean on the same visual shorthand of sparkles, gradients, and glowing orbs, and nothing about them suggests a specific personality.
These five explorations imagine that presence as a striped globe. The stripes shift and pulse in small, choppy steps, a bit like an old computer screen, which gives the agent a sense of life without making it feel too human.
Tweedle
Staying consistent on X is one of the hardest parts of building an audience. Most creators plan posts in scattered notes or juggle separate tools for writing and scheduling, which makes it easy to fall behind and hard to see the bigger picture.
Tweedle brings it all into one place: an AI-powered content calendar where users can draft posts, refine them with AI, use templates from their favorite creators, and track how their posts perform, turning consistency into growth.
